Mask Design

Doug has designed and constructed theatrical masks for high school, college, professional productions, theatre schools, theatre companies and individual performers for stage and television since the early 1980′s. His masks are being used from Stockholm to Seattle.

Productions for which Doug has designed and constructed masks include Shakespeare’s Midsummer Nights Dream (Nashville Shakespeare Festival, TN), The Tempest (Furman University, SC),  Goldoni¹s Servant of Two Masters (Roanoke College, VA), Beauty and the Beast (Greenville Ballet, SC) and many others.

Doug works with a variety of construction materials including solvu-set (a fabric infused with plastic), latex, neoprene (latex with a stiffener), paper mache and leather.  Materials chosen for any given project are determined by texture quality desired of the finished mask, production demands on the masks, time available to complete the masks and budget of the production.

Costs and time needed for each project varies with production.  For design and production inquiries contact Doug.
